  1. Many games like Grim Fandango, Rent-A-Hero and other new games today are
  2. copyprotected the same way:
  3.  
  4. 1.) Using illegal TOC: one data-track follwed by one (or more)    
  5. audio-track and again a data-track 
  6. 2.) The sum of file sizes is much greater than 700 MB, for example
  7.     Grim Fandango 5 GByte. Most of this files can┤t be copied.
  8.  
  9. So how to copy it ?
  10. What You need: 1.) Again the incredible CDRWin (>= V3.5c)
  11.                2.) a 80min/700MB-CD
  12.                3.) a cdrom/burner with good error-correction
  13.  
  14. In the following CDRWin 3.5c is meant:
  15. 1.) Start CDRWin ---> Copying CD
  16. 2.) You now see the TOC (Track 1 (Yellow,Mode1), Track 2 (Red,Audio)      
  17.                   and Track 3 (mostly Yellow, MODE1)
  18.     Click on Track 1 with the right mouse button: 
  19.     You will now get some informations about this track.
  20.     Important here: Start- and End-Sector-Number !
  21. 3.) Now select COPY SECTORS
  22.     Insert the start- and end-sector.
  23.     Select format: DATA MODE1 RAW (2352)
  24. 4.) On the second page choose at errorhandling: REPAIR
  25. 5.) Start creating image (FINISH)
  26. 6.) In most cases the creation of the image stops at about 99 % with      
  27.           an error message (cannot read track xxxxxx to yyyyyy,            
  28.     hardware-error.....).
  29. 7.) Now take the xxxxxx-number minor 1 and insert as new end-sector       
  30.         (for example Rent-A-Hero: xxxxxxx=341847 -------->
  31.     new end-sector=341846)
  32. 8.) Create the image again
  33.  
  34. Now we have the image, but how to burn it ?
  35.  
  36. There are two ways:
  37. 1.) Create a CUE-file and burn it with CDRWin using the CUE-File
  38.     (A CUE-file is only automatically created when COPY DISK
  39.      was selected !)
  40. 2.) When you don┤t know how to create a CUE file:
  41.     I use the burning program NERO (>=V3.0) to burn it.
  42.     In this programm select CD Image....
  43.     The program says now that it is not a nero-image and you have to      
  44.           set some parameters.
  45.     Here are the parameters:
  46.     DATA MODE1, RAWDATA (Check the box, the number 2352 will be           
  47.      grayed out)). 
  48.     The other parameters should be set to zero and boxes should be        
  49.     unchecked.
  50. 3.) Now you can start burning the image.
  51.  
  52. This new created cd you can copy in the "normal" way.
